The opening of the transmission for this repair is best left to one that has the tool and experience as the weight of the motor and transmission must be controlled as the subframe is lowered. A lift and steady stand at the least is required and when the transmission is open it must be kept absoultly clean. One particle of dirt in a valve will cause shifting issues.

Condition
Some customer may comment on the SES light on and a chuggle or surge. Diagnostics may show excessive TCC slip speed and DTC P0741 will be current code stored.
Cause
Seal damage may allow the TCC apply fluid to leak into the channel plate, causing excessive TCC slippage under certain conditions, eventually causing no TCC apply.
TCC may have partial apply fluid pressure or no apply fluid pressure. If excessive slip speed is noted and condition/cause cannot be corrected by using DTC P0741 diagnostic chart, suspect worn seals from slippage of the drive sprocket bearing inner race on the drive sprocket.

Replacing the TCC Solenoid is the most common fix and requires about 8 hours and special tools.

What causes the transmission code "TCM relay always on". the car is a 2002 Hyundai Sonata 4cyl auto. . were is the TCM relay located?

Answer:

The relay is located behind the radio/HVAC stack. There are two causes possible for this code, one the relay is really stuck on, the other is the harness is frayed in the transmission valve body. There is a TSB regarding this code.

If the fuse is blown for the trans controller (fuse #6) the harness in the trans is likely shorting. Check this first.

2001 Lexus es300 engine light and trac off light came on

My engine light and trac off light came on. My mechanic's code showed 1135. but he was not able to determine what the code refered to. He said only a dealer would have the ability to retrieve that info. Does anyone know what 1135 code means?

this is a problem with the air flow meter heater. The problem may be the mass air flow meter itself or in the a/f meter relay in the under hood relay box.

1999 Cadillac devillie, pcm 0745 the TCC is stuck off. what is the TCC and where? I have tried the TPS at first from running symptoms but after learning to get the codes and reading the manual it says that its the TCC but do not know the actually definition of that abbreviation.I have a 98 with good trni was thinking of changing whole trani but alot of work!It seems to be fine in all gears but at acceleration it hesitates in overdrive and at stop lights the rpms are crazy up n down but if you place it in neutral it stops.Almost replaced the VSS but that would come with speedometer issues always?

tcc stands for torque converter clutch. this is a solenoid that controls your torque converter. when it see the right parameter the torque converter gets lock up for better fuel economy on the highway. only on the hwy is the converter is suppose to lock up not in idle. if converter locks up in idle at a stop light the it may stall and make rpms jump. has this every stalled out on you? do you know where your tcc solenoid is and did you check power and ground to it? is the solenoid working as design? most time is a bad solenoid but also could just be a bad wire going to it. check the big trans wire connector and get a schematic for it to see if you have a bad wire or solenoid.

2004 gmc pickup speedometer shows zero and abs light and servivce brake lights on trani shifts goofy like truck is not getting road speed signal

Answer:
All these problems are related to not getting a signal from the vehicle speed sensor. The proper way to test this is with the use of a scan tool,checking for codes and reading the sensor outputs to the trucks computer. I will send you a picture showing the sensor location,it is #4 in the illustration, you can check to see it the wiring to it is intact. The sensor is held on by one bolt,and easy to replace. It cost approx. 25.00. But replacing it with out the testing is a gamble.

Code P0420 : Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold

This code is set when the o2 sensor behind the catalytic converter sees a lower signal than the set parameters of the OBDII system.

English : The Catalytic converter is no longer doing an efficient job and needs to be replaced.

Symptoms : Check Engine Light On

Drivability : Not affected

Causes :
1) Age
2) Running rich caused by failing upstream o2 sensor or failing MAF
3) Fuel Injector Stuck Open
